2023 Changan Avatr 11 electric SUV in-depth Walkaround.

Introduction: 2023 Changan Avatr 11 electric SUV in-depth Walkaround. Brought to life by a joint venture between Changan Automobile, lithium-ion battery provider CATL, Avatr 11 is underpinned by the EP1 platform.

The architecture that underpins the Avatr 11 is called CHN and it was developed jointly by Changan, Huawei, and CATL specifically for the brand. The power comes from a dual-motor setup designed by Huawei and called DriveONE. This four-wheel-drive system is made up of a 195 kW front motor and a 230 kW motor sitting at the rear with a combined torque of 650 Nm. That allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 3.98 seconds.

The motor get their energy from CATL supplied CTP (cell-to-pack) ternary lithium-ion battery packs. They are available in 90 kWh with a 555 km range and 116 kWh capacity with 680 km of range. Those numbers are from the CLTC cycle making them highly optimistic, or rather unachievable. Still, the car should be able to deliver 500 km of range with the biggest battery pack.

The Avatr 11's dimensions are 4880/1970/1601 mm, with a wheelbase of 2975 mm. It has a 4- and 5-seat layout. It has two electric motors of 578 hp onboard.

The long-awaited Avatr 11 was finally launched in China. Avatr is a joint project between Changan New Energy, CATL, and Huawei. The 11 got 578 hp, 680 km of CLTC range, and a starting price of 349,900 RMB (51,800 USD). First deliveries will start in December this year. Let’s get acquainted with the Avatr 11.

In 2018, Avatr was launched as a joint venture between Changan and NIO. Later, NIO withdrew from the JV. CATL replaced NIO as the second biggest shareholder. Right now, Changan holds 40.99% of shares, and CATL owns 17.1%. We should underline that Huawei has no shares in Avatr. It only takes care of Avatr cars’ hardware and software for intelligent driving, connectivity, and infotainment. Huawei also supplies electric motors and some other parts. Recently, Avatr announced it will cooperate with U.K. oil giant BP to create a fast-charging network in China. All in all, Avatr develops rapidly. Now, let’s get to know its first EV better.
